Grant Mitchell Obituary

It is with great sadness that we recognize the passing of Grant P. MITCHELL, born
April 29, 1941, passed away suddenly March 26, 2011, aged 69 years.

Survived by his sister Moira; nephews Michael, Stephen and his wife Rikki; great
nephew and nieces Adam, Jorja, Emmrie and his doberman Jaxx.

Grant was a long term employee of BC Ferries, starting his career at Swartz Bay and
in the late 1980's transfered to Tsawwassen.   In the Dog Show world he was a
tireless worker and exceptional volunteer through-out the 1980's, 90's, and until
very recently when health conditions precipitated his retirement to Kelowna.  He was
a proud breeder of Doberman Pinschers under the Blue Star Kennel prefix, and enjoyed
his companion Jaxx until his passing.

Grant began volunteering as a member of Victoria City Kennel Club, Vancouver Island
Dog Fanciers Association and the Greater Victoria Dog Obedience Training Club.  In
the late 80's he moved from the Island to Surrey whereupon he joined the Lower
Mainland Dog Fanciers of BC.  He held several posts on the executive and was the Show
Manager for the Tradex Dog Show. From being one of the first to arrive and the last
to leave, Grant was instrumental in building the event to the success it is today.
In 2009, Grant, Moira and Jaxx, travelled for many months across Canada enjoying a
very well deserved vacation.

Grant and his dedication to the dog show world was a rare commodity and shall be
missed.
